Neurons, or nerve cells, are the basic functional units of the nervous system. Students use the Virtual Neurons software to construct neural circuits and visualize how messages travel through the circuits. As an extension, students can design and implement an experiment manipulating circuit components to alter neural communication.

The concepts and learning goals remain the same as in earlier versions of the program; some slight changes in the look of the screen and how you access Settings (much easier in VN3!) are shown in the new documentation. The Teacher Guide, Additional Circuits, and Homeostatic Circuit documents feature many images; versions of these documents with black-and-white images will be made available soon.
