BrainU Has a New Editor

Dr. Nancy Michael, University of Notre Dame

Dear BrainU followers and website visitors,

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Nancy Michael of the University of Notre Dame as the new editor of the BrainU website. Dr. Michael, a former BrainU instructor, has expanded the idea, central to BrainU, that neuroscience knowledge can be applied in education to include communities and organizations beyond K-12 schools. In partnership with multiple community organizations, she has developed a NEAR (neuroscience, epigenetics, adverse childhood experiences, resilience) science program to apply neuroscience to mitigate the impact of toxic stress on individuals and communities. Dr. Michael and her team will be excellent stewards of the BrainU content and will enlarge the website’s focus and reach.

I would like to thank Sue Minor, Gregg Amundson, and Patrick McCabe, who have been the BrainU webmasters and technical guardians over the years, for their dedication to making this website welcoming and functional. Without them, you would not be viewing this content. They have been wonderfully supportive in every detail related to BrainU. Additional thanks goes to Carrie MacNabb for generating much of the original BrainU workshop and website content.  While I am stepping down as editor, I am still available to answer questions regarding neuroscience and education at dubin001@umn.edu.

Wishing you many neuro insights in this new year.

Synaptically yours,
Janet M Dubinsky
